Rose are delicate flowers that every women wish to have from their beloved ones. What makes roses charming to women is that of its romantic shape and its delicate smell. Roses have a lot of meanings, which could be categorized through its color. A red rose usually symbolizes an ever-lasting love. White roses would be a symbol of pure and brightness. The mixture of red and white roses would symbolize unity.
Roses can be pretty difficult to handle so it is recommended that you pick a strong and disease-resistant rose to start from. Roses require plenty of sunlight to thrive in your garden. A minimum of 6 hours of sunlight is recommended for the rose. The amount of sunlight your rose plant receives would be the amount of flowers the plant will have. Having less amount of sunlight would be equal to fewer amounts of roses.
A good soil would also be considered important for a rose plant. Having a good soil would mean that your rose garden would thrive. This is because they are heavy feeders, which are dependent on rich soils. The soil should have a reasonable amount of moisture and is able to hold enough moisture for your plant. The soil should also be equipped with manure or compost so that the plant would be able to extract its nutrition from the soil.
Roses require plenty of fertilizers and water as a source of nutrition. You should carefully give the right amount of fertilizers and water so that there would not be a lack of nutrition. You should also prune your rose only at the correct time. Keep an eye on any rose problems so that you can take care of them before things get out of hand. Remember that if things get out of hand, you would probably have a rough time straightening things out.
A new rose would probably grow better in a moist and cool condition such as the spring or fall time. It would be best if you would start growing the plant after the soil is workable during the spring or during the fall season. You would also notice that during these times, roses would be easier to handle rather than in a hot season. During the first couple of months, you should water the plant regularly until it is well developed.
There are also a few insects that could destroy your rose plants. Some examples would be aphids, Japanese beetles, leaf cutter bees, spider mites and thrips. The insect that is most found around roses are Aphids and they can be in red, green, yellow or black in color. These can be easily overcome by spraying water on them or treat the flower with insecticidal soaps. Japanese beetles on the other hand can be quite dangerous for your plants as they come in groups and are usually hungry. They can also fly and invade your flower again even after you’ve taken care of them. Sevin chemicals are a way to take care of them but you can always do it the manual way by picking them up but this way requires a lot of work as you have to take care of them every once in a while.
Having a rose plant would be very interesting and very handy if you have an occasion where you have to give flowers as presents but it would require a lot of work. The results are definitely worthwhile and your garden would definitely look gorgeous. Remember to always enjoy while gardening!

I’ve had to deal with Japanese beetles ever since I moved to Atlanta. The minute I get a bloom on anything–on my roses, my butterfly bushes, my flowering trees–they swarm in and destroy the bloom and then start on the leaves. I’ve tried sprays and powders. It only stuns them for awhile. It never kills them. Funny we can put men and women on the moon, but we can’t do anything about certain garden pests.
