Miami born Cuban-American actress Eva Mendes shot to fame in 1996 when she appeared in various music videos including Aerosmith’s ‘Hole in my Soul’ and the Pet Shop Boys’ ‘Se a vida é’. Eva’s big break into Hollywood came when she played a Salvadoran mistress in the award winning ‘Training Day’ and has since appeared in films such as ‘Hitch’, ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘We Own the Night’.
Â
34 year old Eva is a gorgeous curvy brunette, reaching number 7 in Maxim’s top 100 girls, and no wonder! Her sultry dark eyes, golden skin and long honey brown hair make her the perfect candidate for the big screen and the red carpet.
Â
The Do
Â
Eva looks great with a formal up do and this week shows a relaxed beehive with a flowing fringe and gentle waves at the back.
Â
Who’s it for?
Â
For this hairstyle, the longer the hair the better. It is however possible to recreate the beehive with mid-length hair and pin it up at the back rather than letting it flow down your neck. Although Eva has a long face, this do will suit those with oval, heart and round faces too.Â
Â
Treatments
Â
Having healthy, shiny hair is the best way to make any hairstyle look great, so treat yourself to an intensive conditioning treatment before blow drying your hair straight or using straighteners. You will need a fine toothed comb, volumizing mousse, hair spray and curling tongs to create this look.Â
Â
The Styling
Â
Shampoo, condition and towel dry your hair so that it is damp. Start by combing volumizing mousse evenly through your hair before blow drying your hair in sections. Doing this creates extra volume. When drying your fringe point the dryer upwards and away from your face while curling the hair around a brush to create a sweepy look.
Â
Find your natural parting and begin backcombing small sections of your hair from about 3 inches behind your front hairline to the crown of your head and spray with hairspray. Make sure you have a section of hair to go over the top of the backcombing to give it a sleek look.Â
Â
Finishing
Â
Bring the hair back into a half-ponytail and fix with a clip or hairpin. You can leave the hair straight or for a more classic look, do as Eva did and use curling tongs to create loose tumbling curls.
Â
To do this, all you need to do is separate the ponytail into about 5 sections and curl them with medium-heat tongs. Hold for around 10 seconds, let go, gently comb through them with your fingers and mist with hairspray.Â
Â
Couple this hairstyle with sweeping Cleopatra style eyeliner for a 60’s inspired classic red carpet look.
