Wearing the Right Bra

Author: Sami  /  Category: Fashion News, Samis Rants

Wearing the Right BraSure, we’ve all made fashion mistakes and if there were a fashion police department, we’d all have points on our licences. There is however, little excuse for a bra strap offence and the rules of coupling a bra with the right top aren’t hard to follow at all.

Remember, the clue is in the name: Underwear is designed to be worn under clothes and there’s no reason for it to poke out.

The most common mistake women make with bra straps is simply wearing the wrong type of bra with the wrong top or dress . The result is a bra strap that is so obviously visible that it takes the attention away from anything else you wear, even if it’s a bright pink feather boa (although you shouldn’t be wearing one of them either). A halter neck top should never EVER be worn with a normal shoulder strap bra. Choose a halter neck or strapless bra for this style.

Another fashion crime that looks truly awful is the bra strap that sits inside of a wide necked top’s straps. The result is not only unsightly underwear but it also makes your shoulders look a lot broader than they actually are, and your neck look wider. Incredibly, this situation can be made even worse when the colour of the bra straps doesn’t match the colour of the top. Disaster. The key to avoiding this problem is either choose wide necked tops that have thick straps to hide your bra, or again, try a strapless one.

Wearing the Right BraIf you’re ever severely in doubt over which bra to wear with which top then opt for a strapless bra. Although they may not provide the support you want for every day activities, they’re fine for a night out and keep you covered when it gets chilly. If you’re a particularly busty lady then it may be advisable to find a bra with invisible straps. Better to have these showing than going saggy. Alternatively, ask a specialist at a lingerie or department store to pick you out a great bra. You can never go wrong with the advice of an expert.

Bra shopping can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack, but it’s worth taking a look. One great investment any woman can make is to buy a multi-way bra. These provide you with the option to have standard over-the-shoulder, halter-neck, crossed over at the back or no straps at all. It’s worth spending time and money on buying one of these as I guarantee it will get a lot of use, and they’re usually available as t shirt, seamless, sports and lingerie styles.

Finally, just be vigilant. Always take your bra straps into account and keep a range of bras that accommodate your clothes. There’s nothing worse than having an expensive dress and a perfect look ruined by visible straps.

Happy shopping!

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
