Win Role Opposite Hanks Auction HANKS, WILSON SPONSOR EBAY GIVING WORKS AUCTION FOR SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL L.A.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks are sponsoring an online charity auction on eBay Giving Works, eBay’s dedicated program for charity listings, to benefit Shakespeare Festival L.A.

Founded in 1986, Shakespeare Festival/LA artfully creates professional, relevant theater that reflects the history, landscape, and people of Los Angeles. The main auction is for the chance to have a speaking role in the stage production of Taming of the Shrew. It also includes a rehearsal with the cast, VIP after party, and a group photo with auction winner and cast, which the cast will all sign. It goes live Thursday May 8th at 7:00 P.M. and run through May 14th.

The successful bidder not only gets to perform with Rita & Tom, a host of other notable talents have graciously donated their time to take part in the play. These actors include:

Annette Bening, William Shatner, Zach Braff, Tim Allen, Christina Applegate, David Schwimmer, Sean Astin, Steve Root, Arte Johnson, and Tommy Chong. Live music and songs that evening will be performed by Lyle Lovett.

Shakespeare Festival L.A.’s performance of The Taming of the Shrew takes place on May 19th.

Rita Wilson explains: “Tom and I have been involved in Shakespeare Festival L.A. for 17 years. This is one of the most fun nights we have during the year. Being able to play Shakespeare with such great actors and musicians makes for an evening of awe and a lot of laughs.”

Husband and fellow thespian Tom Hanks agrees: “The greatest joy for an actor is to perform Shakespeare. The best evening in the theater for an audience, is to see Shakespeare performed.”
