Christopher Frank Carandini Lee is born on 27th May 1922 in Belgravia England. His mother’s name was Contessa Estelle Marie and his father was Lieutenant-Colonel Geoffrey Lee. His parents got divorced when Lee was very young. Christopher’s mother took him and his sister and moved to Switzerland. He got admission in Miss Fisher’s Academy in Wengen. His first initial break came from his first villainous role as Rumpelstiltskin. He is a well known English actor.

In the beginning, Christopher Lee portrayed many negative and villain roles. Christopher got his initial fame and popularity by his timeless role as Count Dracula. His awesome performance was acknowledged in series of Hammer Horror films. Christopher Lee’s other prominent characters include Lord Summerisle in the super hit movie “The Wicker Man released in 1973, Count Dooku in the movie “Star Wars” series. His most recent role as Saruman and performance was highly appreciated in critically acclaimed movie “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy. In 1998, Christopher Lee was the perfect choice for the significant role of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the autobiographical movie “Jinnah”.

Christopher Lee started his career in acting and applied for Eton; initially which was an unsuccessful attempt. However the interview was proved significant as ghost story writer M. R. James noticed his presence. After a failed effort he attended and won prestigious scholarship at Wellington College. In June 1939, Christopher Lee observed the execution of Eugen Weidmann. Lee confesses in his autobiography that in 1939 he participated in Winter War against the Soviet Union. During World War II he served in the intelligence services and Royal Air Force. Christopher Lee was trained in South Africa as a pilot though eyesight problems made him quit. He was retired as a Flight Lieutenant from the Royal Air Force after World War II.

In 1948, he made an unsuccessful role in Laurence Olivier’s movie. During next decade he did roughly thirty films and played mostly action roles in those films. In 1958, He co-starred with Boris Karloff in the film “Corridors of Blood”. In 1960, Christopher Lee’s performance in “City of the Dead” started a new dimension of his horror acting. After the timeless role of Bela Lugosi as Dracula; only Christopher Lee got similar recognition and appreciation as Dracula. In the film, Transylvanian vampire, Lee played Frankenstein’s Monster. He is also popular for his frightening looks; scary eyes that well suited and complimented his powerful performance. In 1960, he avoided being typecast and refused his role in The Brides of Dracula. However, in 1965; he returned as Hammer’s Dracula “Prince of Darkness” on huge demand of his fans.

Christopher Lee’s performance in Hammer Horror films is simply outstanding. He has no lines, just hissing in entire film. His role in these three films were commercially successful “Dracula Has Risen from the Grave”, Taste the Blood of Dracula, and Scars of Dracula. Christopher Lee movie, The Devil Rides Out is considered his best horror movie, his 20 years association with Hammer ended on 1976 with To the Devil a Daughter. Christopher Lee has contributed a lot through his excellent acting skills, powerful horror movies and expressive personality.
