Amy Winehouse’s father stated that Britain is wasting money on drug addicts who quickly and easily agree to go to rehab treatment.
Mitch Winehouse said Tuesday to lawmakers on Parliament’s Home Affairs Select Committee that in fact, the majority of drug addicts who accept to go to rehab instead of the prison sentence, are not even trying to quit drugs.
He stated that officials are rushing in offering rehab to convicted lawbreakers, meanwhile “regular” addict have to wait months for the same treatment.
His daughter, Amy, is famous for the song “Rehab” about a woman who said no to treatment for addiction. Amy’s career was surrounded by drug usage, incident with the law as well as by a tumultuous marriage. She even got a fine in Norway in 2007, for marihuana possession.
