January Kristen Jones (born January 5, 1978) is a Golden Globe-nominated American actress who rose to fame after her role in “American Wedding” (2003). Jones started her career as a model, which eventually led into acting. After appearing in several independent films and guest starred in television spots, she basically established herself as a valuable actress with her role in the AMC series “Mad Men” (2007 – )
Jones was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and named after the character, January Wayne, from the novel “Once is Not Enough” by Jacqueline Susann. She attended Edison Middle School and Roosevelt High School. Jones moved to New York City at the age of 18, appearing as a spectacular model for clothier Abercrombie & Fitch. Following her move to Los Angeles pursuing of an acting career, Jones debuted as an actress having a small role in the independent film “All the Rage” (1999). Jones next appeared as a guest star in the Fox pilot, “Get Real”. In 2001 she got a role in her first important motion picture, “The Glass House”.
Jones had the leading role in the movie Love’s Enduring Promise (2004), and supporting roles in “Anger Management” (2003), “Love Actually” and “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights”. In 2005 she appears in Tommy Lee Jones’s film “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada”, while in 2006 playing the role of Carol Dawson in the film “We Are Marshall”. She also appeared in the Season 18 Law & Order episode “Quit Claim”.
As her career started to rose, Jones was ranked #82 by Maxime magazine’s “Hot 100 Women of 2002. Jones was also on the cover of “The Hot Issue” of British GQ magazine in May 2009.
Her roles and appearances earned her a couple of awards and nominations during the years. In 2005 she won a Character and Morality in Entertainment Award for “Love’s Enduring Promise. The following year, Jones won the Bronze Wrangler at the Western Heritage Awards for Outstanding Theatrical Motion Picture for her performance in “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada”. In 2009, Jones was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for “Mad Men, but she won the Actor award at the Screen Actors Guild for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for “Mad Men”.
January Jones dated for three years from 1998 to 2001, Ashton Kutcher who later became enchanted by Demi Moore. Jones dated actors Jim Carrey and Seann William Scott, before starting a relationship with singer Josh Groban in 2003. Their relationship ended in 2006. Starting from 2008 Jones has been dating Tommy Alastra, owner of Tommy Alastra Productions, a marketing company that apparently is working with lame, cheesy Los Angles clubs.
