Famous British actor Edward Woodward, known for his roles in the films “The Wicker Man” or “Breaker Morant” and TV series “The Equalizey” died at the age of 79, Monday in a hospital.
His agent, Janet Glass stated that the actor was suffering from several illnesses, including pneumonia.
Woodward was born in Croydon, south London and begun his career as a Shakespearian stage actor. His performance in spy series “Callan” earned him a BAFTA award in 1970. Later on, in 1986 Woodward won a Golden Globe Award in the Best Actor category for his performance of the role of ex-secret agent Robert McCall in the television series “The Equalizer”.
His latest big screen appearance was in the role of Tom Weaver in the action comedy “Hot Fuzz”.
