Madonna managed to raise $11 million in Rio de Janeiro, from Brazilian millionaires for her Raising Malawi Foundation, according to the daily Rio O Dia on Monday.
The famous pop star visited Brazil to pursue the country’s richest people into giving and succeeded to win an unspecified pledge from Brazil’s richest man, the mining mogul Ike Batista, whose fortune is an estimated $7.5 billion.
Madonna, age 51, was accompanied during her fund raising campaign by Brazilian model Jesus de Luz, age 22. The US and British gossip pages are referring to de Luz, as Madonna’s “toy boy”.
The Raising Malawi Foundation – started in 2006 – is financially involved in humanitarian projects in Malawi, the African country where Madonna has adopted two children.
