Nicolas Cage stars in the unearthly thriller Season of the Witch, Cage playes a 14th century Crusader who returns with his companion (Ron Perlman) to a native land ruined by the Black Plague. A badgered church, deeming sorcery the perpetrator of the infestation, compels the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a backwoods abbey, where monks will execute a ritual in hopes of stopping the plague.
A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a bereaved knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an road grifter (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can simply dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) unite on a mission infested by mystical unfriendly wilderness and savage competition over the fortune of the girl.
As the embattled company reaches the abbey, a frightening breakthrough endangers the knight’s pledge to secure the young lady fair treatment, and marks them against an inexplicably destructive and powerful force.
