Sharon Stone Biography, Filmography, Pictures Sharon Yvonne Stone (born on March 10, 1958) is an American actress, film producer and former fashion model, achieving fame with her performance in the thriller Basic Instinct. Stone has one Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and winner of a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her performance in Casino.

Stone was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1975 from Saegertown High School, briefly attending Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. While a teenager, she worked at a fast food restaurant.

In 1977, Stone left Meadville and moved to New Jersey to pursue a fashion model career. She was signed by Ford Modeling Agency in New York and spent a couple of years modeling and appearing in various TV commercials for Burger King, Clairol and Maybelline.

Living in Europe she decided to quit modeling and become an actress. She was cast a small role in Stardust Memories (1980) and in the horror movie Deadly Blessing (1981). Stone next appeared in Irreconcilable Differences (1984), Action Jackson (1988) King Solomon’s Mines (1985) and Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1987). Her performance in Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold earned Stone a nomination for Razzie Award for Worst Actress.
