Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged a man who allegedly stole more than $25,000 worth of jewelry from actress Julie Newmar, the former “Catwoman”.
Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declared that Robert Ouriel, 48, stole the jewelry from Newmar’s home late October or early November last year.
Newmar, who played the role of the first Catwoman on the TV series Batman in the 1960s, noticed the jewelry on the internet auction site eBay and alerted authorities.
According to the prosecutors, Ouriel was an acquaintance of Newmar and he supposedly sent the jewelry to an Illinois pawn shop that put up for sale on eBay. He was taken in custody last month and released on $50,000 bail.
