A private middle school in inner-city Atlanta has received a $1.5 million donation from Oprah Winfrey.
The donation was announced Thursday by the Ron Clark Academy. The inventive school has made great efforts to raise money over the year amid recession to pay its $2.8 million operating budget that is financed almost completely by donors.
The school located in one of Atlanta’s poorest neighborhoods is now hoping to enlarge its campus by adding a cafeteria, gymnasium and theater.
Winfrey had school founder Ron Clark on her show two times and already donated $365,000 to the school last December.
Way to go Oprah.
