Kristy Swanson Biography, Filmography, Pictures Kristen Nöel “Kristy” Swanson (born on December 19, 1969) is an American actress, probably best known for her role as Buffy Summers in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Swanson started her professional career at the age of nine appearing in several TV commercials and by the time she was 13, she had already more than 30 advertising roles. She also had some one-off appearances in TV series, including Cagney and Lacey or Alfred Hitchcock Presents. She debuted on the big screen for the first time in 1986, appearing in two John Hughes films, Pretty In Pink and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Later on that year she landed her first starring role as Samantha in Deadly Friend. A year later Swanson played the role of Cathy in the film Flowers in the Attic.

Swanson had several TV appearances, such as multiple appearances in Knots Landing (1987-1988) and Nightingales (1989). Her first starring role in a television series was in the short-lived Burt Reynolds vehicle, the B.L. Stryker in 1989.

During the 1990s Swanson played in several films, including the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer that turned out to be a box office success. She had starring and supporting roles in various movies, such as Hot Shots!, The Program, The Chase, Higher Learning, in the adaptation of the comic-book The Phantom, as well as the comedy 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag. As the majority of these films failed to be a success, Swanson returned to television work at the late 90s.

Swanson appeared in the 1998-1999 season of Early Edition as Erica Paget, while in 1999 she played Vanessa in the movie Big Daddy. In 2000, she starred in the television series Grapevine, but it was cancelled after just 5 episodes.

In 2006, she appeared in and won the television program Skating with Celebrities, having Lloyd Eisler as her partner. In 2007, she appeared in an episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, playing the role of Anna Nicole Smith. In 2008, she was the guest star in 3 episodes of the lesbian web series 3Way. Recently, in July 2009, she filmed the film What If… that is set for a 2010 Valentine’s Day DVD release, and currently she is involved with filming the film A Root Beer Christmas.

During her career, Swanson earned a Young Artist Award in 1989 for Best Actress in a Horror or Mystery Motion Picture for her performance in Flowers in the Attic and three Young Artist Awards nomination in 1986, 1987 and in 1988.

Swanson was born in Mission Viejo, California, having Swedish ancestry. She quit regular schooling at the age of 13 to concentrate on acting and convinced her parents to move to Hollywood. In February 2009, she married her Skating with Celebrities partner, Lloyd Eisler and they have a son, Magnus together. The couple currently resides in Santa Clarita, California.
