Sheri Lyn Skurkis (born September 26, 1970) is an American actress and fashion designer, changing her name to Sheri Moon and becoming Sheri Moon Zombie following her marriage with Rob Zombie. She is known as a “scream queen” and “the most iconic female serial killer to emerge on the modern horror scene”.
Moon grew up in Connecticut and following her graduation from Plainville High School, she moved to California. After dating musician and film director Rob Zombie for nearly 13 years she married him on October 31, 2002.
Moon wanted to do cartoon voiceovers and for a short time attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting to be an MTV VJ. However, she got busy accompanying Zombie on his tours. Following the split of his band, and becoming a solo artist, Moon became a dancer going with Zombie in tours and designing costumes for the tour.
Moon appeared in Zombie’s several music videos and also on the covers of the single for “Living Dead Girl” (1998) and for “Demon Speeding”, as well as in Black Label Society’s video for “Stillborn and Prong’s video for “Rude Awakening”.
In 2003, Moon is the co-star in Zombie’s first major film, House of 1000 Corpses, even though earlier to that, she states that she never wanted to become an actress. Despite the not so favorable reviews the movie turned out to be quite successful. In 2004 she had a small role in the film, Toolbox Murders, being the only movie with her that is not directed by her husband.
In 2005, Moon is again playing the role of Baby Firefly in the continuation of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects. The movie was a commercial success and had a much better review than the first part. Moon won the Spike TV’s Scream Award for “Most Vile Villain” and also won a Fuse/Fangora Chainsaw Award for best duo with her co-star Moseley.
Moon created a clothing line, Total Skull, released in May 2006, being available online, at Hot Topic stores, at different locations in the United States, England and in Australia.
In 2007, Moon appeared in a segment for the film, Grindhouse, segment directed by Zombie. She performed the role of Deborah Myers in Zombie’s version of the 1978 classic Halloween, also appearing in the sequel Halloween II that was recently released in August 2009. Moon is the voice of Suzi X in the animated film, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, released in September 2009.
