Billy Joel abandoned plans to going on with Elton John in his U.S. tour this summer as he is planning a year long break in his career. They were concerting together as part of their extremely successful Face-to-Face tour, considered the third most popular road show of 2009 in North America.
They have programmed concert dates until March 11 and expected to continue through this summer, including a performance on July 7 at Chicago, Illinois’ legendary Wrigley Field.
John disclosed that the show is not taking place, as Joel wants a break in his career. He also said it is not his decision; Joel had made up his mind to have a year-long break.
Joel faced a difficult period following his daughter, singer Alexa Ray Joel hospitalization in December with breathing difficulties due to the use of homeopathic medication Traumeel. She is said to have taken pills to fight depression over her split with her boyfriend.
Although John is not happy about the tour cancellation, he claims he is totally supportive of his old friend’s decision.
