Terry Gene Bollea (born on 11 August, 1953) known mostly by his ring name Hulk Hogan, is an actor and former professional wrestler.

Bollea was quite popular in the mid 1980 and early 1990s as a wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, presently World Wrestling Entertainment) and in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) with a short-lived return to WWE in the early 2000s. Bollea was introduced into the Hall of Fame of WWE in 2005 and he is a 12 time world heavyweight champion.

He was raised in Tampa, Florida and started to watch professional wrestling at the age of 16. Bollea spent ten years playing guitar in various rock bands in Florida, being a talented musician. He dropped out from the University of South Florida, spending most of this time at a local gym, where he met professional wrestler Mika Graham and caught the attention of Jack Brisco and his brother Gerald. They are responsible for convincing Hogan to wrestle. In 1976 he was introduced to top trainer Hiro Matsuda.

August 10, 1977 is the date of his professional debut and in June 1979 he won his first wrestling championship, the NWA Southeast Heavyweight Championship. Later that year Bollea is introduced to the WWF. The Chief of WWF Vincent J. McMahin gave him the last name Hogan. Hogan made his first appearance in Japan on May 13, 1980 achieving most of his early success in New Japan Pro Wrestling being highly popular in Japan.
