Christopher Eugene “Chris” O’Donnell (born June 26, 1970) is an American actor, probably mostly known as Robin in the Batman films, or from Grey’s Anatomy and The Company. O’Donnell is currently playing in the NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles. The show was presented during a two part episode of NCIS, named “Legend”. He played the role of Callen, a special agent with the Office of Special Projects (OSP). The same role will be reprised in the NCIS: Los Angeles that premiered on September 22nd. O’Donnell is playing the lead character, having co-stars LL Cool J, Peter Cambor, Daniela Ruah, Linda Hunt, Adam Jamal Craig or Rocky Carroll.
O’Donnell was born in Winnetka, Illinois as the youngest child in his family having four sisters and two brothers. He grew up in a catholic family studying in catholic schools, such as the Loyola Academy in Willmette, Illinois for high school from where he graduated in 1988. Later on, he graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in marketing.
At the age of 13, O’Donnell started modeling and appeared in numerous commercials.
O’Donnell debuted on television in the series “Jack and Mike” in 1986. At 17, he auditioned for a role in the film “Men Don’t Leave” and he won the role. In the first part of the 1990s, O’Donnell appeared in several successful movies – Fried Green Tomatoes (1991); School Ties (1992); Scent of a Woman (1992) – and was listed as one of the twelve “Promising New Actors of 1992” in John Willis’ Screen World, Vol.44.
Following the success of Circle of Friends (1995), O’Donnell appeared as Robin in Batman Forever. In 1996 he starred in The Chamber, a year later in 1997 reprising his role in the sequel of Batman, Batman & Robin.
