Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed on to replace Brendan Fraser in the ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ sequel.
The actor, 38, is replacing Brendan Fraser in the action movie, ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’.
Fraser had chosen not to return as a deal on the start date of the movie was not reached, which led studio New Line to search a new actor for the movie, and Johnson is in the final stage of negotiations.
Brad Peyton will direct the project and Josh Hutcherson will reprise brave explorer Sean Anderson.
The initial installment of the movie grossed $250 million worldwide in 2008 and its sequel is set to be filmed in October on locations in North Carolina and Hawaii, according to Heat Vision Blog.
Beau Flynn, Tripp Vinson and Charlotte Huggins will produce the picture, which will be filmed in 3D.
Dwayne will appear in ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ opposite Janet Jackson and is currently involved in filming ‘The Fast and the Furious 5’ alongside Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
