Jacqueline “Jackie” Burroughs (February 2, 1939 – September 22, 2010) an English-born Canadian actress, died on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at her home in Toronto. She was suffering from stomach cancer.
She was born in Lancashire, England and acted in the theatre at Ontario’s Stratford Festival. She appeared in such films as The Dead Zone (1982), The Grey Fox (1982), while on television she had roles in Anne of Green Gables (1985) and Road to Avonlea (1990). She won her first award in 1969 at the Canadian Film Award for best actress, for her performance in the short film Duclima.
She was probably known to Americans for her role as Hetty King, in the series Road to Avonlea (1990-1996). She also had an appearance in the movie The Sentinel, and in one episode of the series Smallville.
She was married to Zalman Yanovsky and got separated in 1968. The couple had a daughter, Zoe.
