Ringo Starr’s Home Board Fans Stealing

Author: Sami  /  Category: Celebrity News

Ringo Starr's Home Board Fans StealingThe home where Ringo Star grew up has been boarded up to prevent Beatles fans from stealing bricks – as mementos – from it.

The house, located at No. 9 Madryn Street, Liverpool, North England, had metal shutters fitted to it, after several people visited the property to remove bricks from the home, which is set to be demolished. The metal shutters represent a safety measure, because if additional bricks are removed, the house could be a potential danger to passers-by.

Fans are applying pressures for the home not be demolished.

According to Philip Coppell, Chairman of the Save Madryn Street Society, “It is encouraging to see that the council has taken steps to halt the activities of the souvenir hunters.

“Fans from all over the world have objected to the demolition and we are still hopeful that we can persuade the city to revoke the demolition order.”

It is the only house associated to a Beatles member – John Lennon, George Harrison, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo – not having protected status.

A group, The Beatles Society, wants the bricks to be sold off for charity – if the property is demolished – with certain parts to be saved for the local Liverpool Museum of Life.

The local council is determined to demolish the house and the surrounding streets as well, to make place for new housing.
