Diane Kruger (born on 15 July 1976) is a former fashion model and German actress, who is known in the United States from films such as Troy (as Helen), National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (as Dr. Abigail Chase) and Inglourious Basterds (as Bridget von Hammersmark).
She was born in Algermissen, Germany and attended a strict Catholic school. As a teenager she was sent to student exchange programs by her mother, in order to improve her English. She successfully auditioned for the Royal Ballet School in London, but her ballet career was ended by an injury and she moved to Paris to pursue a modeling career.
She became interested in acting and after taking lessons at the Cours Florent, she had minor appearances in a number of French films.
