Keanu Charles Reeves (born on September 2, 1964), mostly famous for his roles in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Speed and the trilogy The Matrix. He also performed in theater, his title role in a Manitoba Theatre Centre production of Hamlet, was critically acclaimed by Roger Lewis, the Sunday Times.
He was born in Beirut, Lebanon and frequently moved around the world as a child. After the divorce of his parents in 1966, he moved with his mother to Australia and then to New York City. Later, they moved to Toronto where he grew up with his grandparents. He excelled in hockey and dreamed of becoming an Olympic hockey player for Canada, but an injury ended his hockey career.
Reeves debuted on screen in the comedy series Hang in’In. In the early 1980s he appeared in different commercials, short films and stage work. His first studio movie appearance was in the ice hockey film Youngblood. He landed a notable role in the drama film River’s Edge (1985). It was followed by several movies in the late 1980s, including the comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and its sequel Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991).
In the early 1990s, he appeared in action films including Point Break, performance which earned him MTV’s Most Desirable Male award in 1992. In 1994, he starred in the action film Speed, which turned him and co-star Sandra Bullock into A-List stars.
