It’s not the first time Willie Nelson has been charged for drug possession. On Friday November 26 US Border Patrol agents in Sierra Blanca, Texas found six ounces of marijuana aboard Nelson’s tour bus.
Nelson, who has penned over 2,500 songs including “Crazy,” “Hello Walls,” “A Good Hearted Woman,” and “On the Road Again,” was stopped at the checkpoint about 9 a.m.
The country music legend was then taken to Hudspeth County Jail before posting the $2,500 bond.
The Texas native and father of 7 has a long history of smoking marijuana.
In an interview with Time Magazine in 2006, Nelson said, “I don’t think people ought to go to jail for using it [marijuana]. It’s too good a medicine. I guess if it were harder to find on the illegal market, there would be more people out there voting to make it legal. But you can grow a little here or have a little there from a friend, and the next thing you know, you don’t care whether it’s legal or not.”
Nelson could get up to 180 days in county jail.
A court date has yet to be set.
What do you think Willie Nelson’s sentence will be this time?
