The Tourist (2010) is a drama/thriller featuring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The movie is a remake of the French film Anthony Zimmer (2005).
Elise (Angelina Jolie) by chance sits next to Frank (Johnny Depp), an American tourist who is visiting Italy. They are on board a Venice-bound train. Elise crosses his path on purpose in order to mislead those who are following his ex-lover, Alexander Pearce, who is wanted by the British Economic Police to collect the taxes from the money (over $2 Billion) from a gangster. Frank, who is a math teacher, tries to have a romance with Elise in Venice, but he ends up being a target and they both are forced to escape from the police and also from the gangster, who wants his money back. The police have no idea how the gangster looks like, so they need Elise to identify him. The movie includes manipulations, and Frank and Elise soon realize they are only pieces in the game of a mastermind.
