What was the marketing team at “Vampire Diaries” thinking when they came up with the campaign “Catch VD?”

If you saw a billboard in Hollywood saying catch VD would you be thinking about “Vampire Diaries” or Venereal Diseases? This isn’t the first time The CW’s marketing department has pushed the envelope.
A spokesperson for CW had this to say.
“VD simply stands for Vampire Diaries, and anyone who thinks otherwise should probably get themselves checked out.”
One thing I gotta give the marketing team credit, people are talking about it. What do you think?
