Before the Pittsburgh Steelers kick the tar out of Green Bay Packers at Super Bowl XLV, Christina Aguilera will be doing the live performance of our National Anthem. On Monday January 24, 2011, FOX and the NFL made the news official.

“I have been performing the Anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” the rosed-lipped 29-year-old said in a statement. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”

Aguilera joins an elite list of divas — including Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, and Beyonce who have all sung “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The Black Eyed Peas will be performing the half-time show this year. I sure hope the game is good, because the choice of half-time entertainment this year included, and the last few years has stunk.

Super Bowl XLV will air on the Fox network on February 6th.
