Melora Walters (born on October 21, 1959) is an American actress, mostly known for her roles in Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Roseanne, Seinfeld and recently in the television series Big Love.
She was born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and attended Lake Forest Academy-Ferry Hall, Lake Forest, Illinois. She was married twice, to actor Christopher Scotellaro (from 1990 to 1994) and to Dylan Walsh (from 1996 to 2003) with whom she has a daughter (Joanna) and a son (Thomas).
She started her acting career doing off-Broadway theater in New York before she made a name for herself in television. She debuted on screen in the film Dead Poets Society (1989) and then landed a small recurring role as Debbie on the sitcom Roseanne. Over the following years, she had small roles in such films as Beethoven (1992), Twenty Bucks (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Cabin Boy (1994), Hard Eight (1997) and Boogie Nights (1997). She also had several episodic appearances on television shows, including The Wonder Years, NYPD Blue, Seinfeld and CSI.
In 2003, she played the role of Lila in Cold Mountain, while in 2004 she played the role of Andrea Treborn in The Butterfly Effect. In 2007, she had a guest star appearance as Sylvia Greene on Desperate Housewives. Currently she appears as Wanda Hendrickson in the drama Big Love.
