Emily Erin Deschanel (born on October 11, 1976) is an American TV producer and actress, widely known for the role of Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan in the television series, Bones.

She was born in Los Angeles, California, as the daughter of director and cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and actress Mary Jo Deschanel.

She debuted in a feature film, It Could Happen to You in 1994. She had a notable role in Rose Red (2002), followed by such movies as Cold Mountain, The Alamo, and Glory Road. In 2004, she was named by Interview Magazine as one of Six Actresses to Watch.

In 2005, she starred in Boogeyman. She was next cast as Dr. Temperance Brennan on the series Bones, which has been running for 6 years now. She received a Satellite Award (2006) and Teen Choice Award (2007) nominations for her performance on the series. In 2009 and 2010 she won two consecutive Emmy Awards as Actress in a Leading Role (Drama Category). From the third season of the series she also serves as co-producer. From the fourth season she serves as a producer alongside co-star David Boreanaz.

She is involved in causes for animal rights. She is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, graduating from Boston University’s Professional Actors Training Program. In September 2010, she married actor David Hornsby and they are now expecting a baby later this year.
