Ted Danson (63) is joining CBS’ show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The former Cheers star replaces Laurence Fishburne as the drama’s leading man for the show’s 12th season. CBS is hoping to keep alive the one-time top show in television. Ratings for CSI began to fall off quickly toward the end of last season.
Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said, “You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it’s just words.” “We’re very excited Ted Danson came along.”
From what I read offers went out to actors, Robin Williams and John Lithgow before they landed on Danson.
Besides his ‘CSI’ duties, Danson will remain a regular on the HBO comedy series, “Bored to Death,” CBS said.
“CSI” will begin its 12th season with Danson on Wednesday, September 21.
Do you think Danson is a good choice for CSI?
