Halle Berry (born on August 14, 1966) is an American actress, with an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG and NAACP Image Award for Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Monster’s Ball. She is among the best paid actresses in Hollywood.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Bedford High School, and later studied at Cuyahoga Community College. She participated at several beauty contests in the 1980s, winning Miss Teen All-American (1985) and Miss Ohio USA (1986). She was also the first runner-up at the 1986 Miss USA.
At the end of the 19780s, she moved to Illinois for a modeling and acting career. In 1989, she got a role in the television series Living Dolls and later appeared in a recurring role on the serial Knots Landing.
