A cheerful Britney Spears appeared in court Friday with her father for a hearing in her current conservatorship case.

The judge wanted to see Spears in person to review her evolution since her father has the legal control over her affairs, as a result of her mental breakdown two years ago.

The pop star’s lawyers asked the court permission to sell her 2008 MTV Video Music Awards dress in auction, to raise money for Haiti earthquake aid.

Her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham told the judge Britney Spears “is very enthusiastic about the idea for a donation to Haiti,” and that she “is appreciative of the extra time and effort” showed by the court. The dress donation was approved.

Spears, 28, appeared in court in a gray jacket and black skirt and entered the courtroom at 1:45 PM following her father, Jamie.

According to experts, it is normal for the judge to check in with her. Nevertheless, Spears will be again in control of her affairs only after she will demonstrate to the court – accompanied by doctor’s opinion – that she is capable of managing her own life.

Britney Spears is set to go though a psychiatric evaluation in an effort to establish is she is fit to take back control of her affair, according to a U.S. report.

Spear’s father – Jamie – was named conservator of her affairs following her 2008 hospitalization on an involuntary psychiatric hold.

Early on this year, in June 2009, Jamie filed legal papers, suggesting that he would continue to be guardian of her estates till the end of the current year, when the courts will establish if Spears is fit to regain control over her affairs.

According to Tmz.com, lawyers for Spears are now preparing to schedule an evaluation of the singer’s psychological state, and a “capacity expert” might allow her to be back in control of her assets. Nevertheless, the same website reports that most probably Spears’ affairs will remain under the conservatorship of Jamie.
