Mickey Rourke is in discussions to star as Conan’s father in “Conan”, a revival of the fantasy franchise that led Arnold Schwarzenegger to worldwide fame.
The Lionsgate project is about barbarian warrior Conan – Jason Momoa – getting on a quest to take revenge for the killing of his people, along with his father, Corin. Filming is set to begin in March in Bulgaria and will be directed by Marcus Nispel – “Friday the 13th”.
Rourke was reported to play the father by website Latino Review in January, but no deal was made and the two parts are again negotiating in the last couple of weeks.
The actor is still harvesting the fruits of his last year Oscar nomination for “The Wrestler”. Following the nomination, Rourke signed on to numerous and various projects, from high-brow (“Passion Play”), to low-brow (“The Expendables”) to major commercial plays (“Iron Man 2”).
Arnold Schwarzenegger performed the role of Conan in the 1982’s “Conan the Barbarian” and in the 1984’s sequel “Conan the Destroyer”.

Sylvester Stallone broke his neck during the filming of a fight scene in his recent movie. He underwent surgery and a metal plate was inserted in his neck, following his injury on the set of The Expendables.
