Bill Murray was bleeding from a head wound after injuring himself during a ‘dumpster dive’ stunt for a U.S. television show.

The Ghostbusters actor jumped into a makeshift dumpster swimming pool full with garbage, as a part of a skit for the Late Show with David Letterman to make fun of the official plans for trash-bin swimming holes in New York City.

But Murray hit his head in the jump and the show’s set was covered with blood. Nevertheless, Murray continued the interview with the host, with the producers patching up the injury during a break in filming.

According to a rep for the New York Post, “He did hit his head on the dumpster and was bleeding during the interview with Letterman, but the producers patched him up in the commercial break.”

The actor later cancelled plans to take part in a screening of his recent film Get Low in Manhattan to recover from his injury.

She has applied for a restraining order against the Caddyshacks star, alleging that she and their four young children were forced to leave their $2million home in Charleston, South Carolina, because of his behavior.

She also seeks to stop Murray ‘from exposing the children to any person with whom he is sexually or romantically involved, or anyone taking or in possession of illegal drugs’.

The papers filed in a Charleston court say that Murray – nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lost In Translation – would travel overseas to have affairs. The divorce is being sought on the grounds of adultery, physical abuse and drug addiction.
