Oscarcast executive producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer asked Hugh Jackman to host the 83rd Academy Award. Jackman hosted the Oscar two years ago, but this time he turned down the offer. He is now extremely busy preparing the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel, with filming scheduled to start in late February or early March. Script is written by Christopher McQuarrie and will be filmed in New York and Japan. The main problem is that the Academy Award will be held February 27th.

Last year, the hosts of the Oscar’s were the returning Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Jackman would be indeed an ideal choice, due to his adaptability as a song and dance man, as well as his international appeal.

Hugh Jackman has healed the long estrangement with his mother, after she left him as a kid – they have been spending time together in New York.

Jackman’s father had to take care of him and his siblings following his mum, Grace’s departure from the family home when he was 8-year-old.

Grace and her separated husband, Chris, later on made and agreement that Jackman’s sisterts would be raised with their mother’s native England and Jackman with his two brothers remained with their father in Australia.

Jackman admitted that he is not holding her responsible for leaving them – as she was suffering from post-natal depression.

Currently, he has put the past behind him – he was spotted spending quality time in New York with his mom, and she is helping him looking after his adopted children while his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, is in Australia.
