She is encouraging other people to help the poor with Oprah’s Angel Network, teaching classes through satellite at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, raising money or personally donating millions of dollars to various charities, she is doing all for the unprivileged.

2. Angelina Jolie

She is among the few celebrities to actually see the benefits of their charity work. As a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN High Commissions for Refugees, she visited refugees in over 20 countries. She has been politically active on behalf of humanitarian causes and also adopted children from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

3. Brad Pitt

He is next to his partner Angelina Jolie on such lists, as the couple found the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, dedicated to eradicate extreme rural poverty, protecting natural resources and preserving nightlife. He is also rebuilding homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina with the help of the Make it Right Foundation.

4. Madonna

She began Raising Malawi in 2006 to offer proper food and clothing, secure shelter, targeted medical care, formal education as well as psychological support to helpless children in Malawi, Africa.

Pop diva Madonna is in Malawi as part of her week long charity tour.

She arrived in Malawi ahead of the charity tour and the singer is set to visit the Millennium Village, a UN initiative west of Lilongwe on Monday, according to the official program.

Economist, development affairs experts and also mentor of the initiative, Jeffrey Sachs will join Madonna. Tuesday, Madonna will place the first brick of her Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, as a sign of the official start of building the $15 million academy, planned to open in 2011.

Madonna is known to have donated millions of dollars into this poor southern African country and being active in her charitable efforts. Madonna also has two adopted children from Malawi.
