Matthew Broderick (born on March 21, 1962) is an American actor who starred in films like Godzilla, Inspector Gadget or WarGames. He also voiced several animated films like The Lion King, The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, The Thief and the Cobbler, Bee Movie or The Tale of Despereaux. Broderick is also a stage actor, starring in the Broadway productions The Producers and Glory.
Broderick was born in New York City and attended City & Country School and high school at Walden School.
His first important acting role was on the workshop production of playwright On Valentine’s Day, followed by a main role in the off-Broadway play Torch Song Trilogy, which received positive review by the New York Times. He next appeared in the plays Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues. He debuted on film in Max Dugan Returns (1983) and his first hit movie was WarGames (1983), followed by the film Ladyhawke in 1985.
Broderick was next cast in the comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and in 1989 he starred in Glory. In the 1990s, he was the voice of adult lion, Simba in the animated film, The Lion King and the voice of Tack in The Thief and the Cobbler.
