Munn’s billboard attacks Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus or its treatment of elephants.

“When you look at something like the circus and everyone’s laughing and there’s color and there’s music and everything seems so great,” Fox News quoted her as saying in a commercial also released by PETA.

“But when you go right behind that door and they’re in these crates all day long and then they’re getting shocked and beat just so they can get up and dance around on a ball … it was just so sickening,” she added.

Olivia’s billboard is located at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Los Angeles.

A recent PETA ad against McDonald’s chicken-slaughtering practice features a ‘Golden Girls’ era photo of the actress Bea Arthur with the headline, “McCruelty. It’s enough to make Bea Arthur roll over in her grave.” She died April, 2009, suffering from cancer at the age of 87.

Arthur was a dedicated PETA supporter and she left money to the animal right’s organization to run campaigns against McDonald’s. The text ad begins with: “Death couldn’t stop this Golden Girl from fighting the Golden Arches’ cruel slaughter practices.”

The ad says, PETA uses the money from Arthur, “to pressure McDonald’s to switch to a less violent, USDA-approved chicken-slaughter method” and to save the birds from “being scalded to death in defeathering tanks.”

The ad explicitly calls out McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner who has refused to change the company’s slaughtering methods.
