Playboy’s June issue is equipped with 3-D glasses and will help readers concentrate on what is, apparently, a blurry Playmate of the Year.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner asked, “What would people most like to see in 3-D? Probably a naked lady.”
Hefner want to het his share from the increasing popularity of 3-D movies.
Playboy magazine surely has to do something to get more people to purchase the magazine, as the circulation fall from 3.15 million in 2006 to 1.5 million today.
Editorial director Jimmy Jellinek said he hopes the current issue featuring centerfold Hope Dwoeaczyk in 3-D reminds people that nothing compares to having a magazine in your hands.
“This particular picture is one example of how books and magazines are different (than computer images),” Jellinek said. “You can hold it in your hands, save them, and as Dad used to, put them under the mattress.”
HBO is also helping out, as the 3-D glasses are quite expensive. HBO wanted an original way to promote its show “True Blood” and with Playboy magazine’s 3-D glasses with the show’s name on them looks like a good way to do it, according to Playboy spokeswoman, Theresa Hennessey.
You’ll be buying the Magazine of the 3-D glasses for “True Blood” right?
