The Oscar-winner Russell Crowe has been immortalized in a recent series of Australian stamps in a celebration of his upcoming role as British hero Robin Hood.

Crowe will play in the most recent version of the classic tale and was honored by Australia in a series of postal stamps with Crowe in the guise of his on-screen character.

According to a spokesperson for Australia Post, “The release of the film Robin Hood this month is of global interest, and we thought it would be very fitting to pay tribute to this great actor by producing the Robin Hood stamp pack in recognition of his talent and contribution to the film industry.”

Crowe has been featured on stamps last year (2009), in Australia’s Legends of the Screen stamps series along with her Robin Hood co-star Cte Blanchett.

Actor Russell Crowe will have his own star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame next month, in April.

Crowe, born in New Zealand, will receive the no. 2404 Walk of Fame star on April 12 this year at a ceremony outside the Kodak Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. He has been nominated three times for Academy Award and in 2001 Crowe won the Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role in the film Gladiator.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star honor comes just a month ahead of his most recent movie Robin Hood, which is set to open in May.
