The ‘Basic Instinct’ star will play the role of Darlene in the movie, the mother of the leading star Pixie Lott.

The movie tells the story of pregnant Mary, who return to Bethlehem in Maryland with her older boyfriend Joseph.

When it is revealed that he is not the father of the child, rumors start to spread that she is going to give birth to the second Messiah.

Sharon is the most recent in a series of big names linked to the movie and takes the place of ‘Sex and the City’ actress Kim Cattrall in the role of the mother.

Bette Midler will play the role of the innkeeper and Adrien Brody is now in discussions for the role of Joseph.

Steve Blair is the author of the screenplay for the movie, which is expected to start filming in September.

Kim Cattrall's University HonorKim Cattrall revealed she is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Liverpool.

The British-born actress will be presented the doctorate at a ceremony at the University of Liverpool, North West England, later on this year.

Cattrall said: “I was born there and have a lot of family there. I can’t wait to get into a gown and wear one of those caps. Very sexy.”

The Sex and the City star will spend more time in Liverpool this autumn when she will star in a production of ‘Anthony and Cleopatra’ at the city’s Everyman theatre.

Kim, 53, recently revealed she feels string ties to her mother’s family born in Liverpool because of her favorite drink.

The actress explained: “I come from a long line of strong Scouse women. It is not just an accent, it’s almost a constitution – held together by tea. Growing up, I remember there was always a pot on the back burner, and during the filming of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ the bonding always seemed to happen over a cup of tea.”
