Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has made the first charity contribution in the name of his late daughter.
Mitch Winehouse established the Amy Winehouse Foundation to benefit organizations supporting vulnerable adolescents following the singer’s death in July (2011).
Four months from the star’s passing, Mitch has handed over $16,000 to Britain’s Hopes and Dreams scheme, which carries out the wishes of terminally ill children.
In a series of posts on his Twitter page on Sunday (November 13, 2011), he writes, “Tonight Amy’s foundation gives its first donation. Hopes and Dreams will receive a cheque for $16,000. Hopes and Dreams are a charity that helps terminally ill kids and their families. Great people.”
“Amy feels good knowing she has helped lots of kids tonight.”
